LOCTITE 648: High-Strength, High-Temperature Retaining Compound for Precision Assemblies
This low viscosity, high strength, anaerobic-curing retaining compound is designed for bonding cylindrical fitting parts. Even works on slightly oily surfaces, e.g., from various oils, such as cutting fluids.
LOCTITE 648 is a premium, green, low-viscosity anaerobic retaining compound engineered for the high-strength bonding of cylindrical fitting parts. It is specifically designed to provide robust performance in the presence of minor surface contaminants (such as cutting or protection oils) and exhibits exceptional strength on "passive" substrates like stainless steel without requiring a primer. By filling the microscopic voids between close-fitting metal surfaces, it creates a solid, unitized assembly that prevents loosening, leakage, and fretting corrosion caused by extreme vibration and shock.

LOCTITE 648 is designed for the bonding of cylindrical fitting parts. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage due to shock and vibration. It exhibits a robust curing performance. The product also works on passive substrates and offers high-temperature performance and good oil tolerance.
Application
- Aerospace MRO: Securing bearings into housings, bushings, and turbine rotor spindles where precision alignment and thermal stability are critical.
- Electric Motors: Mounting rotors on shafts to handle high-speed dynamic loads and prevent slippage.
- Gearboxes: Holding gears and sprockets onto shafts to eliminate the need for keyways or set screws that cause stress concentrations.
- Hydraulic Systems: Retention of press-fitted or slip-fitted components exposed to high-pressure fluids and thermal expansion.
