Application
LOCTITE 609 is a versatile retaining compound widely used in aviation and industrial MRO for:

- Bushings & Sleeves: Augmenting the strength of slip-fitted parts to replace or reinforce expensive press fits.
- Keyways & Splines: Filling the inner-space to prevent wear and backlash in power transmission components.
- Rotors & Gears: Mounting rotors on shafts in fractional and sub-fractional horsepower motors.
Restrictions
- Plastic Compatibility: Not recommended for use on plastics, particularly thermoplastics, as it may result in stress cracking.
- Oxygen Systems: Not for use in pure oxygen or oxygen-rich environments; do not use as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing materials.
- Disassembly: This is a high-strength permanent bond. Disassembly typically requires localized heat (approx. 250°C) and mechanical force.
- Gap Size: Optimized for small radial gaps; not effective for gaps larger than 0.12 mm (0.005 in).
